DOCTOR
DOCTOR
He had only
known her a short time and yet he felt so connected, and he didn't have any
idea why that was. Strange as it seemed, he was falling for the hazel eyed,
golden haired beauty. The lady Doctor.
If she only knew-he didn't even know his real name. Wasn't that a
bizarre twist on the typical dime store romance novel? Slightly shy amnesiac
falls hard and fast for lady shrink who doesn't have a clue he's faking
everything about his life, except, of course, his growing affection for her.
I've gotta
find my baby yet
I need you
to soothe my head
Turn my
blue heart to red.......
She smiled at
him from across the floor of the restaurant and he felt his heart skip a beat
or two. It was a dazzling smile and the warmth that emanated from her brought
peace and light to the darkness that seemed to surround him. There was just
something about her, and he found himself gravitating toward her whenever he
could. Her questions and her intuitive sense about him were unnerving to say
the least, but he couldn't resist her beauty, her charm, or the alluring
sensuality that was so completely natural. In that moment, he began to face it.
One John Doe was falling in love, head over heels in love with Marlena Evans.
He was at the same time scared to death and delighted beyond words when it
occurred to him that the same might be said of her.
Doctor,
doctor give me the news
I got a bad
case of lovin' you
No pill's,
gonna cure my ill
I've gotta
bad case of lovin' you.......
She stood up
as he approached, flashing him another smile, "Hi, John... I didn't think
you were going to make it... I'm so glad you did."
"Well, I
didn't think I would either, but I managed to tie up some loose ends and here I
am..." he said with a slightly shy smile, pleased to know she was waiting
patiently for his arrival.
"Yes...
here you are... Sit down, please... we're just ordering," she said,
gesturing to Maggie and Mickey, Neil and Liz.
John smiled in
response as he did so, then said, "Great because I'm starved!"
feeling better every time he spent more than a few minutes in the lady's
company.
A pretty
face don't make no pretty heart,
I learned
that, buddy from the start.......
He was staring
at her, thinking how it was so much more than her physical appearance that he
found attractive. Truthfully, it was everything about her. 'She's beautiful in
every way... so kind and compassionate, willing to do almost anything to help
people. She reached out to me... she didn't have to, but she did.'
Momma, I
ain't that kind of guy.....
Marlena
noticed him staring and smiled inside. 'So, he does find me attractive...
hmm.' Then, she caught his eye and he realized she'd seen him staring and
he blushed ever so slightly and then averted his gaze, obviously embarrassed.
It was adorable. 'Oh, he's so cute when he's shy... be still my heart,'
Doctor,
Doctor give me the news
I got a bad
case of lovin' you........
There were
looks flying all around the table, Mickey and Maggie picking up on the sexual
tension the younger couple was exuding, not that they were a couple yet. But
maybe they were becoming one and just hadn't quite acknowledged it. Liz and
Maggie exchanged a knowing glance and Neil and Mickey rolled their eyes. They'd
seen that matchmaking look before and they knew it was only a matter of time
before the ladies were cooking up some sort of plan to get the other two
together. All that without a word spoken. Amazing what the eyes can say.
No pill's
gonna cure my ill
I got a bad
case of lovin' you.........
"So,
uh... are we ready to order?" Mickey finally asked, the others breathing a
sigh of relief.
I know you
like it, you like it on top
Tell me
momma are you gonna stop...
"I know I
am!" John said quickly, closing up the menu, wanting to avoid those
assuming stares he was sensing from the other two couples. He might be falling
in love, but he wasn't ready to broadcast it because he didn't know how Marlena
felt, and there was nothing worse than getting shot down before really getting
off the ground.
You had me
down 21 to zip
Smile of
Judas on your lip....
For some
unexplainable reason, Marlena thought of Roman. It was a time when she was
falling for him but didn't want to admit it. He was constantly acting as if he
knew what she needed more than she did, something John occasionally tried to do
as well. It struck her as strange that she would think of Roman now. Maybe it
was guilt for letting go and being ready to move on, or maybe it was that John
really did remind her of her deceased husband in some important ways. Or maybe
it was just a feeling she would never quite understand.
Shake my
fist, knock on wood
I've got it
bad and I've got it good....
They ordered
their meals and there was that awkward silence; it had come right back.
Blessedly, Maggie jumped in, asking, "So, John... tell us about the new
job, how's it going in the security business?"
'Marlena
looks so relieved,'
thought Liz, glancing over at her friend of many years. Gesturing to her
husband to rise for a moment, she said as they moved away from the table,
"Neil... do you see what I see? Are they... do you think.."
"Liz... I
know that look..... you're thinking of playing matchmaker... aren't you?"
His wife
sighed with delight, and shrugged her slender shoulders saying, "Well,
they're perfect for each other. Marlena has been alone for a long time now.
It's time... and maybe John is just the man she needs. I'll just give love a
little... nudge, that's all," the blond haired beauty said with a smile of
anticipation. She wanted Marlena to be happy. Losing Roman had been so
devastating to her friend; it was time for her to start over, to find love
again.
Her husband
didn't say anything further... what was the point? "Alright, Liz... I know
you just want her to be happy again. But, please don't push her."
"Who
me... pushy?" He was about to say something in response when she added
hastily, "No, don't answer that, Neil!" she said as she placed her
hands on his cheeks, and captured his mouth for a stirring kiss.
Doctor,
doctor give me the news
I got a bad
case of lovin' you.....
John was
telling them all about his ideas and some of the plans he was already
implementing at University Hospital and Marlena simply sat there and listened,
thinking how amazing it was that she'd even met the boyishly handsome man in
the first place. If it hadn't been for that rapist... who knew?
No pill's
gonna cure my ill
I got a bad
case of lovin' you....
As he spoke,
he couldn't help but look at her occasionally, and what he saw gave him hope.
She was listening intently, and her eyes had that slight starstruck quality he
knew was in his at times. It seemed that the more time he spent with her, the
more it felt right, the more he felt at home. There was just something about her
that alternately put him at ease or left him feeling nervous, almost tense or
'was it... frustrated?' he thought as he looked the cut of her dress, thinking
of how incredibly sexy she was.
She asked a
lot of questions he couldn't answer, but she also treated him with kindness and
compassion and she was truly interested in him and what he had to say, in what
he needed. Marlena Evans was a rare find indeed and he vowed to do whatever it
took to gain her trust and elicit her feelings toward him.
He had hope
that maybe, just maybe... she was falling in love with him too.
Doctor,
Doctor give me the news
I got a bad

No pill's

I got a bad
